40,000 To Attend Foo Fighters Belfast Gig

The Foo Fighters are set to kick off Belfast Vital to a crowd of 40,000 people tonight, Monday 19 August.

Police have outlined a number of road closures ahead of the concert at Boucher Road Playing Fields in south Belfast.

Concert organisers have applied for road closures for the Boucher Road and the motorway off slips at Stockmans Lane and Kennedy Way from 4pm onwards, however police said the disruption is more likely to happen between 10pm and midnight. Traffic will be diverted via the Broadway roundabout.

Australian musician and DJ Timmy Trumpet will also perform this week, with the same road closures applying for Saturday's gig.

Fans are advised to use public transport services to make their way to and from the concert, and anyone driving directly to the event is reminded that there are no official car parks.

"Park legally and ensure you are not obstructing the driveway of a residential property," the PSNI advice stated.

Organisers have said it is best to park in the city centre and use public transport services or walk to the venue.

Concertgoers are also advised to drink responsibly if choosing to drink at all, while parents are urged to remind youngsters to behave responsibly.

"We want to see the Best Of You, so if you are going to drink, please do so responsibly as drunk people can be more vulnerable," a PSNI spokesperson said.
