Man Charged Over Co L'Derry Bar Assaults

A man is facing a series charges following a number of bar assaults in Co L'Derry over the weekend.

The 31-year-old was apprehended in Claudy on Saturday night, 24 August, following a disturbance at a bar on church street when he reportedly assaulted a number of customers.

He is charged with criminal damage and possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances after also damaging property in the bar.

Police located the suspect later that evening in a caravan on the Gortilea Road where he was observed in possession of a long barrelled firearm. Officers instructed him to drop the weapon, which he eventually did.
