Autumn Fair Returns To Belfast
As the nights draw darker and leaves begin to fall, Belfast City Council is preparing to mark the change of season with the return of the popular Autumn Fair.
Held in the beautiful setting of the Botanic Gardens on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September, the celebration will involve music, food and a host of fun-filled activities.
Among the highlights is the Autumn Flower Show, a showcase of spectacular prize-winning autumnal blooms and floral art displays as well as giant seasonal vegetables.
Visitors can browse a variety of food and craft stalls selling arty delights and local produce or pop into the Sustainable Living Emporium to learn more about sustainable fashion and lifestyle choices.
Live from the bandstand will be performances from local bands 'The Bluffers' and 'The Professionals' on Saturday between 12.30pm and 5.30pm, before the Grand Finale Band Concert closes the council's Music in the Parks programme 2pm-5pm on Sunday. This showcase will feature performances from the Ormeau Concert Band, Blaris Accordion Orchestra, Ballylone Concert Flute Band and Laganvale (metal technology) Band.
There will be free family-friendly activities to enjoy throughout the two days including balloon modelling, face painting, a sports and game zone, bouncy castle, walk about acts and pumpkin carving. A funfair zone will include a Helter Skelter, Kentucky Derby, Tea Cups and Safari Train rides and a Bungee Trampoline. Charges will be applied to the rides.
Launching the event at Botanic Gardens, Lord Mayor Councillor John Finucane, said: "The Autumn Fair is one of our top seasonal events where we get to celebrate the best that nature has produced as well as all the fun of the fair in terms of live music, food and crafts and fun activities for young and old to enjoy! Come along and help us mark the change of season in the city and there is also a chance to visit Botanic Gardens' other top attractions – the Palm House and the Tropical Ravine, while you are there."
The Autumn Fair will run from 12.30pm to 6pm each day.
