Bus Shelters Go Green In Belfast
A cross party group of Belfast councillors are hoping to turn Glider stops green across the city.
Green Party east Belfast councillor Brian Smyth brought together a delegation last week to discuss the matter, which would involve covering bus shelters with plants, with Translink officials.
The councillors hope the move would promote biodiversity, support bee populations and make a small contribution to improving air quality.
Cllr Brian Smyth said: "This initiative has the potential to transform bus shelters into living and breathing plant based environments.
"It's a small contribution towards addressing climate breakdown and making our city a healthier, happier place to live.
"I really pleased to be able to work with other parties to further the green bus shelter initiative. Climate breakdown needs a massive response and we need a consensus approach at Belfast City Council to meet the challenge.
"The green bus shelter initiative is in place in Utrecht in the Netherlands – we must continue to bring across similar projects, big and small to make a difference for the people of this city."

Translink Bus Strike 'Back On' From 17-23 May
The bus strike "is back on", the GMB Union has announced after their members rejected a revised pay offer. The union has said that drivers, cleaners and shunters across the company will walk out for seven days from 17 to 23 May 2022, "causing the entire bus network to grind to a halt".

Cairnshill Drivers Urged To 'Get On The Buses'
A long-awaited bus service for an underused park and ride site for motorists in south Belfast is to begin shortly. From Monday, 1st November, Translink will provide the service, which will take commuters into Belfast city centre. It will operate every 15 minutes between 7am and 7pm, Monday - Friday and a return ticket will cost £2.

Belfast City Centre Bus Lane Scheme Criticised
The SDLP said it is "seriously concerned" after a city centre bus lane scheme in Belfast has left motorists confused. In Great Victoria street, one signpost contains two signs which have led to confusion, however motorists are still being fined.
