NI Defeated By Germany In Belfast
Northern Ireland's hopes of qualifying for Euro 2020 suffered a major setback on Monday evening as they were defeated 2-0 by Germany.
The tense qualifier at Windsor Park brought plenty of chances for Michael O'Neill's side in the first half, with Conor Washington almost making it past Germany's keeper Manuel Neuer on two occasions.
The second half was a different story, however, as Marcel Halsternberg broke the deadlock just three minutes in. NI keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell made some great saves but couldn't quite stop Germany from dominating the rest of the match.
Joachim Low's men got their second goal in stoppage time from Serge Gnabry.
Northern Ireland put on a spirited display but will be left fighting for a chance to qualify after their eighth consecutive defeat in matches against the Germans.
It comes after huge momentum when the local side won their first four games of the campaign, home and away matches against Estonia and Belarus.
The result may have been a disappointment, but the Green and White Army were out in force with over 18,000 fans packed into Windsor Stadium.
