Slow Food Festival Returns To L'Derry
Thousands are expected to flock to L'Derry next month as the Slow Food Festival returns with an enhanced programme of events across the city.
Now into its fourth year, the award-winning council event will celebrate the very best artisan produce in the North West from Wednesday 09 to Sunday 13.
With demos, masterclasses, street food and family fun on offer at the festival marquee, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Attendees can pick up some top tips from celebrity chefs Jenny Bristow and Catherine Fulvio, who will be sharing all their secrets, while the best chefs and restaurants in the city will unite to present 'the Taste of LegenDerry Slow Food Dining Experience', a long table dining experience featuring the best of local food and drink from this region.
Tickets are now on sale through eventbrite.
Busy East Belfast Route To Close For Resurfacing
The Woodstock Road in east Belfast is set to close later this month for resurfacing work.
A section of the road, between Halcombe Street and Tildarg Street, will be improved via a £350,000 investment.
Work will begin on Monday 16 September and run until Friday 04 October.
Overnight road closures will be in place between the hours of 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday, to facilitate the work.
Diversionary routes will be clearly signed throughout.
Holywood Community Garden Has Potential To Transform Derelict Area
A proposed community garden in the Hill Street Mews area of Holywood has the potential to transform the derelict area, a Green Party councillor has said.
Local representative Rachel Woods has been working with the Housing Executive to transform the area into a space to grow fruit and vegetables and has encouraged anyone to get involved to contact her.
Cllr Woods said: "I have spoken with residents and many are excited about getting involved in the community garden project.
"It will give people a chance to get out into the fresh air, get a bit of light exercise in gardening and enjoy a bit of a chat with their neighbours.
"I have been working with the Housing Executive to try and secure funding for the garden and gain permission to use the land.
"My vision is that this time next year, people in Hill Street Mews and beyond will be enjoying the garden, tending to plants, fruit and vegetables and spending time with their neighbours.
"If you like to be involved in the community garden project please give me a shout."
