Five Arrested At Belfast International Airport

Five people have been arrested at Belfast International Airport on suspicion of importing counterfeit goods.

Detectives from the PSNI's Paramilitary Crime Task Force along with Border Force and HMRC detained a woman aged 49, two men aged 23 and two aged 55 and 29 earlier today, Friday 13 September.

The group were arrested on suspicion of offences related to the importation and possession of counterfeit goods.

All five are assisting police with their enquiries at Antrim Police Station.

Man Charged In Possession Of Heroin
A man is to appear in court charged in possession of heroin. Police arrested five people during searches of a property in Newry on Wednesday, 16 January. Two men have also been charged in possession of a Class A drug. A 50-year-old woman has also been charged with permitting premises to be used for the supply of a Class A drug.

Counterfeit Goods Worth Estimated £130,000 Seized In Glenavy
A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the sale of suspected counterfeit goods. Over 1000 items of suspected counterfeit clothing, footwear and electrical equipment were seized during a police search operation on the Glenavy area in the early hours of Sunday, 14 January.

Two Men Arrested On Suspicion Of Kidnapping
Police have arrested two men on suspicion of kidnapping. The males, aged 33 and 31, were detained in Co L'Derry. It is believed there arrests are in connection with an incident in the city on Thursday, 26 October. No further details have been released.

'A' Level School Leavers Increase 5%
The number of pupils in Northern Ireland achieving two or more 'A' levels or equivalent increased by 4.9% during the five years to 2012/13, according to the Department of Education. The proportion of school leavers achieving two or more 'A' levels or equivalent was 55.1%, up from from 50.2% in 2008/09.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. A man, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
