One Arrested Over Magherafelt Car Fire

Police investigating an arson attack on a vehicle in Magherafelt over the weekend have made an arrest.

A car was reported on fire outside an address in the Toberhead Road area of Curran shortly before 12.15am on Saturday 21 October.

Officers attended the scene where a grey-coloured Ford Focus C-Max had sustained scorch damage to its interior. A window of the vehicle had also been smashed.

A 22-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life with intent.

Enquiries are at an early stage and Inspector Lucas has appealed to anyone who was in the area and saw any suspicious persons or activity to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 32 of 21/09/19.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous.

Pensioners Flee Bangor Arson Attack
Police in North Down are appealing for information following a suspicious fire at a community hall in the Skipperstone Road area of Bangor on Thursday. At around 9.00pm, petrol was poured over the door of the centre and set alight. A number of pensioners were in the community centre at the time.

A man arrested following an assault in Lisburn has been released on bail pending further enquiries, according to the PSNI. The 21-year-old was arrested following an incident in the Rathvarna Drive and Beechwood Grove area at around 1.30am on Tuesday, 12 July.

Man Charged Over Murder Of Anne O'Neill
A 27-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Anne ONeill. The 51-year-old victim died from her injuries following an incident at a house in the Ardmore Avenue area in Finaghy on Saturday, 21 October. The suspect is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 25 October.
