Kevin Lunney: Quinn's Executive Suffers Life Changing Injuries

Detectives investigating the abduction and assault of Fermanagh businessman Kevin Lunney have said he suffered life-changing injuries as a result.

Officers conducted a road stop at the scene of the kidnapping on Tuesday evening as they renew their appeal for information one week on from the Quinn Industrial Holding's Chief Executive's ordeal.

Mr Lunney was taken from his home in Derrylin at around 6.40pm on Tuesday 17 September and savagely assaulted, police have said, before being dumped at a roadside in County Cavan.

The traumatic ordeal has left him with "brutal, life changing injuries" across his face and body.

Detectives are particularly interested in the movements of two cars- a silver BMW and a black Audi saloon- in the Derrylin, Fermanagh or Swalinbar areas on the evening of the abduction.

The driver of a silver Ford Focus, who was travelling on the Stragowna Road out of Derrylin around the time Mr Lunney was kidnapped is also urged to come forward. This vehicle was forced to slow down when a black Audi pulled out onto the road in front.

Detective Chief Inspector Julie Mullan said: "This was an abhorrent attack on a local hardworking businessman.

"The savages who carried out this attack have no place in our society and we are doing everything in our power to bring them to justice."

Police are continuing to work closely with Garda, and say the investigation is progressing.

Members of the public who believe they may have witnessed something relevant, no matter how small it may seem, are urged to call non-emergency line 101 quoting reference 1748 of 17/09/19. Details can also be passed in confidence via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
