Mayor Hits Out As Boy Attacked In Belfast Park
The Lord Mayor of Belfast has condemned a "brutal" attack on a teenage boy in north Belfast.
The 15-year-old was among a group walking in Cavehill Country Park on Saturday evening, 28 September, when youths began launching fireworks at them.
The teenager was then physically assaulted and required treatment for injuries to his head and face.
Sinn Fein Mayor, Councillor John Finucane condemned the incident, saying: "People should be free to use this park without fear of attack, intimidation or harassment.
"I would urge anyone with information on this attack to bring it forward to the police."
Anyone who believes they can assist enquiries is urged to contact detectives on 101.

Teenager sexually assaulted in north Belfast
Police have appealed for information after a woman was sexually assaulted in north Belfast yesterday evening. The incident happened shortly before 6pm in the Woodvale Park area of the city, when the victim, who is understood to be in her late teens, was attacked by two men. The teenager suffered cuts and bruises to her body during the attack.

A man has been injured after being seriously attacked with a bottle in north Belfast. The assault happened in the Parkend Street area at around 8.15pm on Saturday, 19 August. The victim sustained injuries to his head and deep cuts to his arm and back. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a gang of around 200 people attacked a police patrol in west Belfast last night. The incident occurred when a police patrol went into Falls Park to recover a stolen car which had been abandoned there.
