Police Charge Man Over Sexual Offences

A man is due to appear in court later this month over sexual offence charges relating to a child.

The 31-year-old will appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday 28 October.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police have charged a 31 year old man with sexual communication with a child and adult attempting to cause or incite child between 13 and 16 to engage in sexual activity.

"He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Monday, 28th October."

Man Extradited From US Over Historical Child Sex Abuse
A 68-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for a series of indecent assaults on a child in the 1970s. Damien Desmond Anderson, originally from L'Derry, was extradited from the US to face justice. He was convicted of 12 counts of indecent assault against a female who was 11 years old at the time of the abuse.

The PSNI have recorded a 43% increase in the number of searches conducted by the Child Internet Protection Team (CIPT). In 2022, CIPT officers carried out 145 searches, 43% more than 2021, seized thousands of devices and uncovered tens of thousands of indecent images of children.

Man Charged With Attempted Sexual Communication With A Child
A 31-year-old man has been charged with a number of offences including attempted sexual communication with a child. The man was arrested in north Belfast on Thursday, 13 July. He is due to appear at Laganside Magistrates Court today, 14 July. As is usual procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

Man Pleads Guilty To Naming Complainant In Rugby Rape Trial
A man has pleaded guilty to publishing the name of a woman at the centre of a rape trial on social media, making him the first person in Northern Ireland to be prosecuted for the offence. The guilty plea was entered yesterday, Wednesday 28 November, in relation to the high profile trial involving two former Ireland and Ulster rugby players.
