Fermanagh & Omagh Council Chief To Retire
The Chief Executive of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Brendan Hegarty is set to retire at the end of October.
Mr Hegarty has been in the role since the council's establishment in 2014 when he was appointed to lead the transition under local government reform.
Prior to this, Mr Hegarty was Chief Executive of Fermanagh District Council from 2010-2014. Before joining local government in 1990, he worked in the private sector in the field of accountancy.
Chair of the council Siobhán Currie paid tribute to the outgoing chief, saying: "Brendan's unending commitment and dedication to effective governance has ensured the Council is on a very strong footing as it now progresses into and through a stage of transformation. On behalf of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council I would like to thank Brendan for his many years of public service and would like to wish him well on his retirement."
Speaking on behalf of Council employees, Deputy Chief Executive Ms Alison McCullagh, said: "Brendan's colleagues are sad to see him leave the Council and will remember him as someone who was hardworking and committed to his role but who always made time to take an interest in staff and their families.We would like to extend our very best regards to Brendan for his retirement."
Belfast Route To Close For Improvements
Twaddell Avenue in Belfast is set to close for resurfacing work from next week.
The Department for Infrastructure is carrying out £200,000 works on the route between the Ballygomartin Road and the Crumlin Road roundabout.
Work will begin on Monday 28 October and run until Friday 08 November.
A daily weekday road closure will be in place from 9.30am to 4.30pm during these dates.
A diversionary route will operate via Ballygomartin Road and Woodvale Road. Access for residents will be maintained in the area for the duration of the works.
Road users have been warned to expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when planning any journey.
Accessibility Improvements Delivered At L'Derry School
A series of improvements have been completed at St Anne's Primary School in Rosemount, L'Derry, boosting accessibility at the institution.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Michaela Boyle visited the site to open two new stair lifts and a new high quality passenger lift. These lifts will provide access to the whole school building for pupils and staff with mobility issues.
Speaking at the opening, Mayor Boyle said: "I am delighted and proud to perform the official opening of this new accessibility infrastructure which will ensure complete access for both current and future pupils at St Anne's.
"The school library and ICT suite are located on the upper floors of the school so the lifts are a particularly important addition to ensure everyone can access their state of the art facilities."
School Principal Eilis McGuinness added: "St Anne's Primary School first opened its door on May 1st 1972 and has been successfully educating the children of the city since that day.
"Our school motto is 'Love to Learn, Learn to Love' and is at the heart of all we do.
"We work in partnership with parents and the community to ensure all children reach their full potential.
"We are delighted to have this new lift to enhance the learning experiences for all pupils with mobility issues."

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

A number of roads remain closed across Northern Ireland following the damage caused by Storm Ali. The following roads are still closed, however the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is working to clear the obstructions along with its multiagency partners.
