Pipe Bomb Discovered In Lisburn

A viable pipe bomb device was discovered during a security alert in Lisburn yesterday.

One home was evacuated during the operation in the Brooke Hall Heights area on Tuesday 22 October as ATO examined the device.

Superintendent Davy Beck appealed to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in and around the area to contact detectives at Lisburn Criminal Investigation Department on 101 quoting reference 1313 of 22/10/19.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

Education Minister, Maria Eagle, has announced that Charley Memorial Primary School, Drumbo Primary School, Hillhall Primary School and Lambeg Primary School will close at the end of August 2007.

Man Extradited From US Over Historical Child Sex Abuse
A 68-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for a series of indecent assaults on a child in the 1970s. Damien Desmond Anderson, originally from L'Derry, was extradited from the US to face justice. He was convicted of 12 counts of indecent assault against a female who was 11 years old at the time of the abuse.
