Unaccompanied Children Taken Into Care
A number of unaccompanied children found in Belfast have been taken into the care of social services.
It's understood the youths are from East Africa, however police have blasted reports they arrived into the city in a shipping container.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the PSNI said: "We are liaising with the relevant Health Trust to understand the circumstances around a number of unaccompanied children who have been taken into the care of social services.
"Our first priority is the safety and wellbeing of the children involved."
Police branded it "factually incorrect" to say the youths were brought to the city in a shipping container, saying they were taken into care on a number of different occasions.
