Teen Dies In Co Down Crash

A teenager has lost his life in a car crash in Co Down that saw four other young people injured.

The single vehicle collision happened on the Hilltown Road in Killcoo shortly before 2.30am on Saturday morning, 26 October.

The four others, two males and two females, were taken to hospital for treatment with one of the males described as being in critical condition in hospital.

Detectives have appealed for any potential witnesses to come forward.

Those who were travelling on the route and saw the blue Volkswagen prior to the collision are urged to get in touch.

Sinn Fein MP for the area Chris Hazzard offered his sympathies to the 18-year-old's family.

"The local community was shocked and saddened to learn of the death," the south Down MP said.

"My thoughts are with the friends and family of this young man and all who knew him at this sad and tragic time."

Viral outbreak spreads to four hospitals
A stomach bug which led to the closure of two wards in Belfast City Hospital last month has returned, spreading to four hospitals in counties Antrim and Down. The virus, known as small round structured virus (SRSV), is apparently responsible for severe stomach pains in around 70 patients and 11 staff.

Pair Arrested Following NI Crime Spree
Two men have been arrested following a string of incidents, including burglary and attempted burglary, in counties Antrim and Down on Monday. Police released details of a crime spree that began between 2pm and 5pm when a house in the Kiln Grove area of Larne was burgled.
