'Nothing Untoward' In Co Armagh Security Alert

A security alert in the village of Belleks in Co Armagh has ended after bomb disposal experts declared a suspicious object was "nothing untoward".

The Newry Road was closed late on Wednesday night, 13 November, at the junction with Mountain Road and Kesh Road following reports of a suspect object in the area.

Police attended the scene shortly before 11pm.

Chief Inspector Nigel Henry confirmed the alert was over on Thursday morning. He said: "ATO also attended and examined the object, which has since been declared as nothing untoward.

"The Newry Road has reopened and I want to thank everyone for their patience as we conducted our public safety operation."

Police also reminded the public to not hesitate to report anything suspicious they may come across by contacting non-emergency line 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Information can also be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Suspicious Object Found In Co Antrim Declared A Hoax
A suspicious object found in Co Antrim has been declared a hoax. The Mill Road in Newtownabbey has been reopened. Elsewhere, a suspicious object discovered on the Lisburn Road in south Belfast was also declared a hoax. The road reopened at around 4.20am on Wednesday, 13 July. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Security Alert In L'Derry
A suspicious object has been discovered on the outskirts of L'Derry. The object was found in a laneway off the Drunahoe Road. Police and army bomb experts are at the scene. The Drumahoe Road has been closed at its junctions with the Fincairn Road and Church Road.
