Employment Support Charity Shortlisted For UK Award
A local employment support charity that supports local adults with learning disabilities and autism has been shortlisted for a UK-wide award.
A spokesperson for Orchardville, a social enterprise committed to changing lives, said they are "delighted" to be considered for the UK Social Enterprise Award in the Education, Training and Jobs category.
The firm supports any individual with a learning disability or autism to reach their full potential and achieve their employment aspirations.
Providing services in the Belfast, South Eastern and Western Health & Social Care Trust areas, they support people aged 16-65 through a range of individualised services and programmes.
Representatives of the charity will attended the awards ceremony in London's Guildhall next month.
"We feel honoured to even be named among some of the UK's finest Social Enterprises, whatever the result!" the spokesperson added.
Public Urged To Submit Feedback On Irish Language Services In L'Derry & Strabane
Derry City and Strabane District Council is seeking feedback from the Irish language community in relation to its Irish language services.
Erin Hamilton, Irish Language Officer with Derry City and Strabane District Council said: "It is important that the Irish language community avails of this opportunity to provide us with feedback in order to shape and improve the services and to identify any gaps in service provision."
The survey can be accessed at the following link and must be completed by Friday 29 November 2019.

NI Water Assures Safety Of Mourne Reservoirs
The Silent Valley and Ben Crom Reservoirs in the Mourne Mountains have been found to be safe following a recent inspection.
NI Water has no concerns about the structural integrity of the reservoirs and is set to continue with maintenance work.
This work is being carried out to mitigate against deterioration into the future.
NI Water will proceed with the identified work, ensuring it is completed as per the recommendations of the Independent Reservoir Panel Engineer. This will ensure the maintenance of the Reservoirs continues in line with good industry practice.
The issues regarding planning applications have arisen due to how monitoring reservoir management has changed, rather than any actual change in NI Water's reservoir inspections and maintenance. DfI Rivers and DfI Water Policy are working to try to find a resolution to this issue with planning applications.

SF Calls For Action On NI Mental Health Services
Sinn Féin has called for more to be done to improve mental health services across the north of Ireland. The party's mental health spokesperson, MLA Órlaithí Flynn, made the call after the release of the Registrar General's 2023 Annual Report which has highlighted an increase in deaths by suicide in 2023.

Belfast City Council has announced a new public consultation on their new draft Irish language policy. The draft policy sets out how the council plans to promote Irish and use Irish across its services, including interpreting and translation, key documents and publications, signage at facilities, on the council website belfastcity.gov.
