Police Chief Meets QIH Directors
PSNI Chief Constable Simon Byrne has met with the directors of Quinn Industrial Holdings (QIH), including a businessman who was kidnapped, tortured and left for dead just two months ago.
Kevin Lunney suffered an horrific ordeal when abducted from his home in Derrylin, Co Fermanagh and brutally beaten. The father-of-six was left traumatised with life changing injuries across his face and body.
"This was a truly horrific campaign," Chief Constable Simon Byrne said following the private meeting, in which he provided an update into the investigation.
"Other individuals have also been affected by the abhorrent campaign of violence and criminality.
"I have reassured both Mr Lunney and the directors we are continuing to work closely with our colleagues in An Garda Siochana in a bid to bring those responsible to justice."
Criminals targeting the firm are believed to have been behind the attack, which came amid a campaign of intimidation and violence against the directors.
The cross-border police investigation is continuing.
Chief Constable Byrne reiterated his appeal for information, saying: "The vicious people who carried out the attack on Kevin Lunney have no place in our society.
"If anyone remembers anything suspicious, no matter how small, please let us know by calling 101 or you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. It could be relevant to the investigation."
