Inaugural NI Apprenticeship Week Launched
The Department for Economy is set to host Northern Ireland's first Apprenticeship Week early next year.
The initiative, taking place from 03-07 February 2020, will demonstrate the merits of apprenticeships for individuals, businesses, communities and the wider economy.
It's hoped the promotional events and activities will unite everyone involved and interested in the apprenticeships on offer across the region.
Informative sessions will be held for those still at school or anyone interested in the construction industry, engineering and a range of other roles. Details will also be provided on higher level apprenticeships, including foundation, honours and post-graduate degrees.
The initiative aims to bring together all key partners from local councils, employers, FE colleges, universities, private training providers and many more apprenticeship partners within the development and delivery of apprenticeships to raise the profile of the concept of training on the job across Northern Ireland.
Deputy Secretary of DfE, Heather Cousins said: "The Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week 2020 Events Map is now available with over 25 apprenticeship events already confirmed to take place during the week and events being added all the time. We would like all apprenticeship partners to get involved by hosting their own apprenticeship events or in collaboration with others."
Firms wishing to get involved can contact the Department by emailing apprenticeweek@economy-ni.gov.uk.
Ms Cousins continued: "Let's all discover the benefits apprenticeships can bring to businesses, individuals and our economy and consider attending the wide range of apprenticeship events and activity taking place near you during apprenticeship week."
