12% Of NI Young People Not In Work Or Training
Some 12% of young people in Northern Ireland were not in education, employment or training in the last quarter, official figures have revealed.
The Labour Force Survey by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) collected data on all young people aged between 16 and 24 in the three months until September.
Some 24,000 of those were found to be out of work and not in education or training (NEET).
The rate among females was the highest at 13%, while males out of the workforce and not in education stood at 11%.
Within the UK, NI had the second lowest 16-24 NEET rate at 12%.
The proportion of young people who were NEET in the UK was 13%.

An estimated 24,000 16 to 24-year-olds are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET), according to the latest reports from the Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency (NISRA). This represents over 12% of NI's young person population, more than 3% higher that the UK average.
