Causeway Hospital credited for reducing waiting times
Staff and administrators at the Causeway Hospital deserve credit for reducing waiting lists so dramatically, says East Londonderry Ulster Unionist David McClarty.
Commenting on figures released by the Causeway Health Trust which show a reduction of 50 per cent in waiting lists and 60 per cent in delayed discharges, Mr. McClarty said: “The Health Service often comes under fire for failing to achieve reductions in these areas and when such an impressive success has been registered we must recognise a magnificent effort all round.
“With so much negative focus surrounding the performance of the NHS, the professionalism, hard work and dedication of doctors, nurses and administrators is not always fully acknowledged. At the end of the day they are all working to achieve the highest standards possible within tight budgets.
“I am encouraged to learn that the recent achievements have had such a positive outcome in terms of staff morale which is vitally important in this crucial area of employment.”
Mr. McClarty added: “Since the Causeway opened in 2002 I know that recruitment has been a major difficulty and the impending loss of a surgeon through retirement will have a major impact on the excellent work being undertaken in paediatrics. Hopefully, the hospital will be able to overcome this situation sooner rather than later and continue to build on its noteworthy success.”

Work Underway For Free Hospital Parking In Northern Ireland
