'Significant Disruption' Expected As Health Workers Strike
Hospitals and Emergency Departments are expected to be under significant pressure on Wednesday as healthcare workers take industrial action.
The Royal College of Nursing (RCN), Unison, Unite and NIPSA intend to take strike action on Wednesday 18 December as their fight for pay parity and safe staffing levels continues.
The Northern Health and Social Care Trust has said almost 300 outpatient and 52 inpatient and day case appointments have been cancelled.
The trust is gearing up for greater pressures on urgent and emergency care services, with non-urgent cases to experience long waits.
It's also anticipated that a wide range of social care and community services, including social work, day centres and older person's services will be disrupted.

Pharmacies To Offer Free Flu Jab To Health Staff
A pilot service offering frontline health and social care workers a free flu vaccine in their local pharmacy has been launched in the North West. Piloting the scheme in counties Fermanagh, Tyrone and L'Derry, the Health and Social Care Board hopes the scheme will make the jab a lot more convenient for staff.

Codes of practice for social care sector drafted
Northern Ireland Social Care Council, the new regulatory body for social care staff in the province has now completed its consultation on Codes of Conduct and Practice for social care workers and their employers. The consultation is part of a UK-wide project, run in partnership with the social care/services councils in England, Wales and Scotland.
