Nine Jobs As Cybersecurity Firm Invests In Belfast
Nine new roles have been created as cybersecurity start-up Angoka chooses Belfast as its headquarter location.
The firm manages cybersecurity risks in connected and autonomous vehicles, smart cities and Internet of Things devices.
Situated at Catalyst in the Innovation Centre at Titanic Quarter, its new development and delivery centre will create secure communications solutions for businesses.
New job roles created for the city include positions in engineering and business analysis.
Executive Chairman of Angoka Ltd Steve Berry explained that both Northern Ireland's strong talent pool and excellent environment for cybersecurity businesses will allow the firm to thrive.
"We are hugely excited to be joining the excellent ecosystem for cybersecurity that has grown in Northern Ireland over the last number of years," Mr Berry commented. "Our location in Belfast will enable us to make the most of our partnership with CSIT and RISE, the UK Research Institute for Security Hardware and Embedded Systems, at Queen's University.
"We are also looking forward to recruiting and working with high-quality engineering and cyber security candidates who have graduated from local universities."
Invest NI offered £45,000 to support the new roles, four of which are already in place.
Welcoming Angoka to Northern Ireland, Steve Harper, Executive Director of International Business at Invest NI said: "Angoka's decision to establish its headquarters in Belfast is testament to Northern Ireland's renowned expertise and talent within the global cybersecurity sector.
"Our support to create the new jobs is enabling Angoka to build a team in Belfast which will provide innovative hardware solutions for managing the cybersecurity risks inherent in machine-to-machine (M2M) communication networks such as those used for connected and autonomous vehicles, Industry 4.0, smart homes and critical infrastructure."
