PSNI Car Rammed In Belfast Chase
A PSNI vehicle was struck during a chase to recover two stolen cars in Belfast.
Reports emerged shortly before 9am this morning, Friday 20 January, of two vehicles stolen from the Cregagh area of east Belfast.
Officers from the Auto Crime Team detected the cars travelling together on Tates Avenue, where a chase ensued onto the Donegall Road/ Sandy Row routes. One police vehicle was rammed during the incident, however no officers were injured.
A man has been arrested for multiple driving offences and remains in police custody.
A PSNI spokesperson explained: "The vehicles were followed onto the Donegall Road where both made off and a pursuit commenced of one of the vehicles.
"The pursuit travelled towards the city centre and along Sandy Row where the stolen vehicle struck the pursuing Police car.
"The pursuit then continued into West Belfast and the stolen vehicle was abandoned in the Divis area. The other stolen vehicle was also quickly located in the Divis area.
"As a result of this pursuit one male has been arrested for multiple offences and currently remains in custody."
