Progress Made On Belfast Inclusive Growth Charter
Belfast's biggest employers have met to inform the development of a charter for economic growth.
The proposed Inclusive Growth City Charity will directly influence how employers use their employment, procurement and service delivery powers to support growth and benefit all citizens and communities.
As development of the charter progresses, major employers heard from Bristol and Preston based firms about the benefits brought to their cities by such initiatives.
The meeting on Wednesday 15 January was also a chance for delegates to examine the detail of a Belfast charter and establish how best to ensure employers pledge their support.
It's hoped the inclusive project will unite Belfast firms in confidence that no one will be left behind as the city progresses.
Alderman Brian Kingston, Chair of Belfast City Council's Strategic Policy and Resources Committee, said this week's meeting is a significant milestone towards achieving inclusive growth principles.
He commented: "We are acutely aware that we can only progress an inclusive growth agenda by working with employers across the city towards a common vision that ensures that no-one is left behind. I would therefore like to thank those who contributed today and encourage other employers to contact us and help create a truly inclusive city."
