NI Talent Attracts Silicon Valley Start-Up
Northern Ireland's skilled high-tech and IT professionals have drawn a Silicon Valley start-up to bring its innovating business to the region.
Cloud-defined storage company Nebulon is leading the way on premises, server-based enterprise solutions and has chosen Belfast as the location for its new software engineering centre.
The firm currently has a base at the city's Scottish Provident Building as well as offices in London and Seattle and headquarters in Silicon Valley.
Its expansion in Belfast will create 15 new software engineering roles to support the delivery and development of CDS, providing specialised cloud, security and storage expertise.
Nebulon Belfast site lead Jonathan McDowell told of how the firm hopes to make the most of local skilled professionals.
"Northern Ireland has established itself as an emerging leader in terms of skilled high-tech and IT professionals," Mr McDowell commented. "We are eager to tap into its talent base to successfully develop cloud-defined storage for forward-looking organisations embracing the migration to hybrid IT. Once these initial positions are in place, we are looking forward to expanding our team further."
Invest Northern Ireland has offered £97,500 to support the creation of 15 new jobs at the centre.
Head of International Investment at the agency, Derek Andrews said: "It is great to welcome Nebulon to Northern Ireland as it begins its business expansion. As the latest in a number of international technology companies investing in NI, this demonstrates the renowned reputation our highly-skilled software engineering talent has.
"Our support has allowed Nebulon to bring its innovation to NI, creating high-quality jobs that will benefit the local economy. The roles will offer a range of employment opportunities for graduates and experienced professionals alike, helping to strengthen the sector further."
