Prince's Trust Launches Get Started With Fire Training Scheme
The Prince's Trust has partnered with the NIFRS to launch a five-day training programme for young people.
Open to people aged 16-30 with an interest in learning basic firefighting skills, Get Started with the Fire Service is now taking applications.
A taster day will be held next month on Wednesday 12 February ahead of the training week from Monday 17th February – Friday 21st February in Westland Fire Station, Belfast.

£2m Flood Scheme Takes Shape In Ballymena
Local Ballymena residents have been invited to the site of the Toome Road Flood Alleviation Scheme to see how the project is taking shape.
Councillor Rodney Quigley was joined by members of the community to witness work on the £2 million project first hand yesterday, 30 January.
This scheme will bring major benefits to the Toome Road/Wakehurst Road area, including reducing the future risk of flooding, as well as increasing the capacity of the existing sewerage system.
It involves the upgrade of existing sewers, as well as the installation of new sewers on Wakehurst Park, Wakehurst Road, Queen Street and Toome Road. Construction of a large underground storage tank is also underway on land adjacent to the council playing fields at Wakehurst Road.
NI Water will continue to liaise with local stakeholders regarding traffic management up until the project's completion in Spring 2020.
£187k Investment To Improve Armagh Village Road
A road in the Co Armagh village of Hamiltonsbawn is set for improvement in a £187,000 resurfacing scheme.
The Department for Infrastructure is leading the project, which will see a section of the Mullurg Road resurfaced between the Mullabrack Road and the Marlacoo Beg Road junction.
Work will begin on Monday 03 February and run until Friday 28 February.
During these dates a weekday road closure will be implemented between 8am and 6pm to facilitate the work. A diversion will be in place via Mullabrack Road, Hamiltonsbawn and Marlacoo Road and vice versa.
Announcing the scheme, Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said: "I have made clear my intent to tackle regional imbalance. I want any investment in road maintenance to reflect the need across our entire network. I am pleased to announce that the road improvement scheme on the Mullurg Road represents an investment of £187,000 in the Hamiltonsbawn area.
"This work will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of road for the benefit of all who use it. It will also better connect communities and businesses to the Markethill and Portadown areas for many years to come.
"We are working with our stakeholders to co-ordinate these essential roadworks and are publishing details in advance to help people plan alternate routes and manage disruption."

SF Calls For Action On NI Mental Health Services
Sinn Féin has called for more to be done to improve mental health services across the north of Ireland. The party's mental health spokesperson, MLA Órlaithí Flynn, made the call after the release of the Registrar General's 2023 Annual Report which has highlighted an increase in deaths by suicide in 2023.
