Advice As Storm Ciara Veers Towards NI

Flooding, power cuts and travel delays are among the potential disruptions expected this weekend as Storm Ciara arrives.

Yellow weather warnings for wind and rain will take effect on Saturday afternoon with heavy gusts of wind forecast to continue throughout the weekend.

NI Direct is advising the public of potential travel delays, flooding, power cuts, spray or large waves on coastal routes, as well as fallen trees.

Possible injury and danger to life from flying debris is another hazard to be aware of, while some buildings may be damaged and roads obstructed by beach material blown onto coastal roads.

Wind gusts will widely reach 50-60mph across many inland areas. The strongest gusts in exposed locations could reach 80mph.

Residents can report a fallen tree or blocked road here, or contact NIE regarding power cuts online or via the helpline on 03457643643.
