Charlotte Murray: Johnny Miller Jailed For 16 Years
The former fiancé of missing Omagh woman Charlotte Murray will face 16 years in jail for her murder.
Moy man Johnny Miller, aged 49, was found guilty of murdering the then 34 year-old last October.
Charlotte went missing some seven years ago. Her body has never been discovered and investigations have failed to determine the exact circumstances of her death, leaving her bereaved family without answers.
Police believe Charlotte was murdered sometime between 31 October and 01 November 2012. Today's sentencing at Dungannon Court sparked a renewed appeal for the killer to give up the body.
The video appeal features fresh footage of the Co Tyrone twin walking on the beach with her dog and enjoying time with loved ones before her death.
Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan said: "Johnny Miller has been sentenced today for killing Charlotte Murray but the only explanation he's given about Charlotte's disappearance are the lies that the jury ultimately rejected.
"He still refuses to say where her remains are. This is denying her friends and family the chance to say their final goodbyes and to know the truth about what happened to her."
Appealing directly to Mr Miller, DCI Corrigan said: "Johnny, imagine it is your mother standing where Mary stands today. Not able to lay her child to rest, do the decent thing, end this suffering and tell us where Charlotte is."
Police believe it is possible other people also know of the whereabouts of Charlotte's remains and the circumstances of her death.
Anyone with relevant information is urged to come forward.
"We need to bring Charlotte home to her family," DCI Corrigan continued. "It is the honourable thing to do and is the very least Charlotte's family deserve. What if this was your daughter or sister?
"Normally sentencing brings an element of closure for a family after a loved one is murdered. However, there is still no closure for the Murray family - only continued suffering and unanswered questions."
Detectives can be contacted on non-emergency line 101 or for those who want to remain anonymous, information can be provided via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
