GAA Club Raises £90k For Children's Hospice
A west Belfast GAA Club is celebrating its biggest success yet after raising a staggering £90,000 for the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.
O'Donnell's GAC has been actively fundraising for the facility, that cares for children with life limiting conditions or who require end of life support, for the past 20 years.
The club holds an annual Social Night each December with a ballot to raise money as well as collection cans at the Club Bar all year round, resulting in a £90,000 total since 2000.
Joe McNerney, from the Club, said: "We've been fundraising for the Children's Hospice since 2000. We would like to thank all the local businesses who have generously donated prizes to the event every single year and our tenacious club members for their support. We couldn't have raised this money without their support and generosity."
Michael Nugent, Regional Fundraiser at Northern Ireland Children's Hospice added: "This incredible donation really will make a difference to the lives of local children and their families who we care for in the Hospice and in the local community. We couldn't continue to provide our vital service without fundraising events hosted by the local community. We're extremely grateful and humbled to accept this donation on behalf of the club."
Northern Ireland Children's Hospice is the only service of its type in Northern Ireland caring for over 370 local infants, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions every year.
