Thousands Download Mental Health Support App

Almost 3,000 people have downloaded an app offering mental health support since its launch some 12 days ago.

Developed in partnership with East Antrim Counselling, Here2Help features a range of support links and services for anyone who finds themselves in a crisis.

It aims to provide quick to find helplines for users to get support instantly and also a wide range of links to reading materials that can help people in a time of need, including content from https://www.mindingyourhead.info/.

Here2Help is a pocket guide that can offer direction or help for your situation, if you are worried about someone or if you are feeling the pressure of life.

Mid & East Antrim Borough Council revealed the strong response to the app that followed a roadshow to mark its official launch on 12 February.

Downloads of the resource, which was created by Noel McKee and originally launched in 2014 before being updated last year, have rocketed to 2996 in the past twelve days.

Alderman John Carson, Chair of Mid and East Antrim Policing and Community Safety Partnership said it represents a step in the right direction in "saving lives".

"I would like to congratulate all those who were involved in the #Here2Help roadshow event," he commented.

"I have had a lot of positive feedback and if it helps to save one life then it has been a success.

"I am delighted to hear that so many people have downloaded the app and I hope it helps people get the support when they need it most.

"It allows people to have the information at their fingertips when they need it most.

"This borough has been directly affected by some of these issues and as a Partnership we want to re-assure the community that we will do whatever we can."

Mid and East Antrim Engagement Chief Inspector William Calderwood added: "We are delighted to see so many people are downloading the app.

"Even if you think you are in a good place now and don't need help, it's useful to have it on your phone so that in times of crisis you have help at hand."
