Coronavirus: NI School Pupils Sent Home
Pupils and staff from a number of Northern Ireland schools have been sent home amid growing fears over the spread of coronavirus.
The precautionary measure comes after pupils enjoyed half-term ski trips in Italy last week, where an outbreak of the COVID-19 infection is ongoing.
Seven people have died in the region, which has the largest number of confirmed cases in Europe, while another 283 are believed to be infected.
It's understood local pupils have been advised to "self-isolate" for 14 days as a "precaution", following their travels to the Lombardy region.
Limavady Grammar School in Co L'Derry, Banbridge Academy in Co Down and Cambridge House Grammar in Co Antrim are understood to be taking the precaution, with statements issued to parents detailing their specific procedures.
No cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Northern Ireland. A total of 35 tests have been carried out in recent weeks, the Public Health Agency has said.
A helpline number is available for anyone who has travelled to China, Thailand, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Macau in the past fortnight. The 24/7 service can be reached by calling 0300 200 7885.
Previous advice to prevent the spread of the virus remains, with members of the public urged to follow the hygiene steps for general cold and flu-like symptoms- catch it, bin it, kill it.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.
