Female Football Coaches Pass On Their Skills
International Women's Day 2020 saw over 30 coaches of female football host a masterclass to celebrate the contribution local women and girls have made to the sport.
The Irish FA Foundation event at Midgley Park in Belfast highlighted the work of female coaches and female coach educators, in recognition of their impact on the game.
With the theme of 'Each for Equal' it coincided with International Women's Day, a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of females the world over, in the hope of making society more gender equal.
Coaches from the four McDonald's Small-Sided Games (SSG) centres in Northern Ireland, which offer girls-only matches for under-9 and under-11 teams, participated in Sunday's event.
Up to 80 teams now play in the SSG matches in Belfast, Carryduff, Lurgan and Newtownabbey each weekend.
Lauren Moore, Girls Participation Officer with the Irish FA Foundation, said the masterclass highlights the strides that girls' and women's football is making in Northern Ireland and in the sporting community as a whole, the perfect celebration for International Women's Day.
