Belfast St Patrick's Day Parade Postponed
The annual St Patrick's Day parade in Belfast has been postponed over fears of coronavirus.
The move by Belfast City Council comes after the decision to cancel events in the Republic of Ireland was taken on Monday.
A council representative said the celebrations have been "postponed" in light of public concern around the virus, which has infected 12 people in Northern Ireland.
Lord Mayor of Belfast Councillor Daniel Baker proposed the motion.
"It is a large scale event and while we are taking our advice from the Public Health Agency that we are still in the containment stage, we may not be next week," the Sinn Fein Cllr said.
"I felt it was my duty to bring this forward."
