Buy Belfast Virtual Christmas Market To Launch This Week
The Buy Belfast Virtual Christmas Market will launch online this Friday, 20 November, featuring more than 100 local businesses and entrepreneurs, thanks to support from Belfast City Council.
The virtual market is part of Global Entrepreneurship Week and will run through the festive period until Sunday 20 December 2020.
Belfast Lord Mayor, Alderman Frank McCoubrey, said: "The Buy Belfast Virtual Christmas Market is great for small business, and it's great for consumers too. We're seeing more and more that people want to shop local, support the city's businesses and gift something really special at the same time. The pandemic has hit small Belfast businesses and entrepreneurs hard, so we're supporting them by offering an online platform to showcase and sell their products ahead of Christmas.
"If you join the private Facebook group 'Buy Belfast Virtual Christmas Market' you'll be able to browse and buy from a fantastic array of Belfast products, ranging from arts and crafts, to food and drink, health and beauty to fashion and accessories, and even vintage antiques."
Lydia Hodgins from LocalBox said: "LocalBox is really looking forward to taking part in the Buy Belfast Virtual Market - it's a great opportunity to bring our home deliveries of the best food and drink NI has to offer to a wider audience. This initiative will make it easier for people to buy from local businesses this Christmas and means they can still enjoy the experience of browsing and buying unique gifts at a market this year."
Chief Elf Fleur Mellor from Elfagram added: "We're excited for Elfagram to be taking part in Belfast City Council's first ever Buy Belfast Virtual Market. We're looking forward to reaching lots of new customers with our innovative and memorable gift of a song, delivered direct to loved ones' doors – and our elves can't wait to spread their festive cheer across Belfast and beyond."

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.
