Students Urged To Protect Their Homes And Property From Burst Pipes
NI Water has urged students to protect their homes and property against burst pipes as winter begins to set in.
The company is advising students about the devastating effects a burst pipe can have on the property they are renting. A burst pipe can destroy any electronic equipment left behind, class notes or coursework.
There are a few simple steps you can take to protect the house and your property:
• Check with your landlord if all the pipes in the house are lagged;
• Make sure you take all valuables with you or store in a safe location;
• Check everyone knows where the stop valve is.
In a statement the firm said: "If a burst occurs while you are in your rented accommodation, turn off the stop valve and have emergency contacts handy.
"It is in your interests to know if the property you are renting is protected from burst pipes; it may not be your house, but it is your stuff."

NI Property Prices Increase
Residential property prices in Northern Ireland increased for first time since 2007, according to a new report. The Northern Ireland Residential Property Price Index report for the second quarter of 2013 showed that between quarter one and quarter two, residential property prices increased by 2%.

Work Continues On Burst Water Main In Belfast City Centre
Northern Ireland Water engineers are continuing to work on a burst water main in Belfast city centre. At around 10.30pm last night, a major water main burst under the road at the junction of Durham Street and Grosvenor Road. According to reports, engineers have been working overnight to repair the burst pipe and restore supply.

Repairs to several burst water mains in Belfast has been completed, NI Water has confirmed. Part of Cromac Street in Belfast was closed due to emergency repairs being carried out and a number of businesses also reported problems with their water supplies.
