Steve Aiken To Resign As UUP Leader

Steve Aiken has announced he is to resign as leader of the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP).

Mr Aiken has written to the Chairman of the party, Danny Kennedy, stating his resignation.

In his letter of resignation, he said he had taken the party as far as he could.

He also said that he will not be retiring from politics.

Leader of the DUP Arlene Foster said: "In all our dealings, as party leaders, I found him to be very straightforward & honourable."
