Power NI Announces Price Increase
Power NI has announced it is to increase its electricity tariff by 6.9%.
The changes will come into effect in July and will add 76p a week to a typical household electricity bill.
William Steele, Director, Power NI Customer Solutions, said: "We work very hard to keep our prices as low as possible, but regrettably world fuel prices have been increasing over recent months. Like other suppliers, we have no choice but to pay these increased costs, which feed into the cost of wholesale electricity and have a knock-on effect on our tariffs.
"In these challenging times we held off making this change for as long as possible, with this price change not coming into effect until July. As soon as we see an opportunity to reduce prices, as we did last year, we will do so without delay. For any customers who are worried about paying a bill, there is no need to be concerned, please get in contact as we can help you."

£17m To Support Pensioners Affected By Winter Fuel Payment Changes
Communities Minister Gordon Lyons has announced a £17 million fund to support pensioners who have lost eligibility for the Winter Fuel Payment due to recent UK government changes. The one-off £100 payment will be automatically issued to an estimated 250,000 pensioners in around 170,000 households before the end of March 2025.

Energy price increases is going to leave families unable to afford heating, SDLP Communities Spokesperson Mark H Durkan has warned. Mr Durkan made the comment as the latest energy price rise came into effect across NI. It is estimated the price rises could add up to £375 onto the typical annual bill.
