Now Is Not The Right Time To Impose Tighter Restrictions - Swann

NI's Health Minister Robin Swann has said now is not the right time to impose tighter restrictions despite the rising cases of canaries related deaths and 1,485 cases of the virus.

Around 8,000 vaccinations are believed to have been administered over the Big Jab weekend initiative at the SSE Arena in Belfast.

Speaking to BBC NI Mr Swann said: "I don't think we are at that point yet about putting more restrictions back in.

"The Executive meets again in the first week in September in regards to what's still in place and what we'll look at in regards to the next steps, and that's where that decision will be made."

On Sunday, the Department of Health recorded 11 coronavirus related deaths and 1,485 positive cases.
