Major Ballynahinch Roadworks To Begin Monday 15 November
The Department for Infrastructure has announced a £110,000 resurfacing scheme for the Dromara Road, Ballynahinch, commencing on Monday 15 November 2021.
The resurfacing scheme, which stretches from the Hillhead Road to the Ballymacarn Road for 1.6 kilometres will deliver significant benefits for road users and should be fully completed by 17 December 2021.
Minister Mallon said: "This significant investment will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of the road network to the benefit of local residents and those who travel through the area. I would like to thank the public and local residents in advance for their cooperation and ask that they comply with all temporary traffic restrictions while these much needed works are completed."
Political Leaders Urged To Work Together And Avoid Hyping Up Rhetoric
There has never been a greater need for political leaders to work together and avoid hyping up rhetoric, Alliance MLA John Blair has said.
Speaking after a second bus was hijacked and burnt out, Mr Blair said: "These incidents have been reported to have been in connection to dissatisfaction with the Northern Ireland Protocol, following other such occurrences, the effects of which are still impacting some areas. There appears to be increasing violence since the expiry of supposed political deadlines on the Protocol.
"When political speeches or actions raise tensions, they often spill over and affect people trying to get on with their lives. There has never been a greater need for political leaders to work together and avoid hyping up rhetoric, so we can end these senseless acts of destruction. Hijacking and burning a bus achieves nothing, except terrorising local people. It needs to stop."
