Public Consultation Launches On Dual Language Street Signs Policy

Belfast City Council has launched a public consultation into proposed changes to the Dual Language Street Signs Policy, following an decision earlier this year to revise the policy.

The consultation will last for 14 weeks and finish on Monday 28 February 2022 and everyone interested in this issue is encouraged to provide feedback.

The consultation is available to access and view on the council's engagement platform Your Say -yoursay.belfastcity.gov.uk/dual-language-street-sign-policy.

Further to this public engagement, online information sessions will also be taking place.

These will be on the following evenings: Tuesday 30 November, Thursday 2 December, Wednesday 8 December and Thursday 9 December from 7pm to 8pm.

The aim of the revised policy is to promote regional and minority language rights, and to benefit and enhance the diverse linguistic communities within the city, through the adoption of dual language street signs as and where appropriate. The Dual Language Street Signs Policy applies to all languages.
