Adams to discuss IMC report with PM

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has led a delegation to meet Prime Minister Tony Blair in Downing Street today.

Mr Adams said discussions would no doubt focus on this week's International Monitoring Commission (IMC) report.

Commenting before today's meeting, Mr Adams said: "Following press speculation about the content of the so-called IMC report I spoke to Downing Street stressing the urgency of that meeting. So our engagement has been given an added dimension.

" I have to say that I totally and absolutely reject and greatly resent the effort by the two governments to penalise and discriminate against our party. There are some who think that there is a case of going with the flow on these matters. It is not. It is a matter of political principle. And for that reason I have been publicly very very critical of the Irish government."

Today's meeting was the latest in a series of routine meetings which the Prime Minister has had with local parties including Mark Durkan's SDLP on Wednesday.
