RYOBI wins first ever Carrick business award
Ryobi Aluminium Casting (UK) Ltd has been awarded the first Carrickfergus Environment Business Award sponsored by the DOE Environment and Heritage Service (EHS).
At the ceremony last night, hosted by the Borough Council to celebrate successful companies and organisations and the people behind them who have contributed to the energy of the Borough, Richard Rogers, the Chief Executive of EHS, presented the Ryobi representatives with their award.
EHS is the sponsor of the ‘Environment Award’ in the form of a £1,000 (plus VAT) contribution and Richard Rogers said: "As the custodian of Carrickfergus Castle, one of Northern Ireland’s most well known tourist attractions and a great marketing symbol for Carrickfergus (used in the Borough logo and that of the Local Strategy Partnership), the Environment and Heritage Service has a major interest and investment in the success of the Borough of Carrickfergus."
Ryobi is a Japanese owned company, manufacturing high-pressure aluminium die cast components for the automotive industry. The company currently supplies some of the world’s largest car manufacturers, including Ford, Saab, Isuzu and Jaguar.

Duke Of Edinburgh Celebrates Hilton Birthday
The Duke of Edinburgh, on the second engagement of a one-day visit to Northern Ireland, was this afternoon the guest of honour at a lunch at the Hilton Hotel in Belfast. The event was for Friends of The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, as well as to mark the 10th anniversary of the Belfast Hilton.

Carrick Roads To Benefit From Investment
The NI Roads Service is on the right road with an investment totalling £1.7million for maintenance schemes in the Carrickfergus Borough Council area this year. Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy (pictured) said: "A wide range of improvement and maintenance schemes are planned or being progressed in the Carrickfergus Borough Council area.
