Appeal For Information Following Acid Attack On Botanic Ave

A man, aged in his 20s, is being treated in hospital for injuries to his face and chest after reportedly having acid thrown in his face.

According to reports, the man, said to have been part of the homeless community, was sitting on the street on Botanic Avenue at about 14:45 on Thursday when a man approached him and threw a liquid in his face before running off.

Following the attack, the attacker is believed to have run off in the direction of Ireton Street.

The victim is said to have sustained "potentially life-altering injuries".

The PSNI have appealed for anyone with any information, or who may have witnessed the attack, is urged to contact police.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Man assaulted in city attack
Police have appealed for information after a man was seriously assaulted in the early hours of this morning. A PSNI spokesperson said that a 27-year-old man sustained a fractured skull, after he and another man went to the aid of two women who had been approached by three men outside a bank on the Dublin Road in Belfast, at a round 1.50am.

Man hospitalised following brick attack
A 33-year-old man has been treated for head injuries after being attacked with a brick in Belfast city centre at the weekend. The victim is believed to have been assaulted in Great Victoria Street at around 4pm on Sunday. He was immediately taken to hospital however his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
