Translink Strike To Go Ahead

A planned strike action would could see no public transport bus services operating across NI is expected to go ahead as planned after unions and Translink NI failed to reach an agreement.

Representatives of Unite and GMB met with Translink NI management yesterday in an effort to avoid the announced strike – which will withdraw all Metro and Ulsterbus services across NI for a week from 25 April.

According to reports, the unions were urged to exclude school and tourism services from the strike action, but reportedly the unions "declined to give any commitment to providing public transport for schoolchildren during the proposed seven-day strike action".

It is currently not known if there are further talks planned.
