Energy Price Increases Come Into Effect

Two price rises announced by energy supplier Firmus Energy has come into affect, impacting some 102,000 customers.

A 37% price rise across Belfast will impact some 47,000 customers, while a 16.31% rise in its Ten Towns network will affect about 55,000 customers.

Firmus has said that they hope that prices will come back down "as soon as we can possibly do so".

An Electric Ireland price rise of 30% also come into affect on 01 May. And prices rises by Budget Energy and SSE are set to take effect from 27 May and 01 June respectively.

Energy Price Increases Leave Families Unable To Afford Heating
