DUP Urged To Return To Stormont As Inflation Hits 40-Year High
Sinn Féin has renewed a call for the DUP to "get back into the Executive immediately" following news that UK inflation has hit a 40-year high of 9%.
MLA Caoimhe Archibald said that the Executive is needed to put money into people's pockets, to support farmers and businesses, and to agree a budget to start to fix our health service.
The party's economy spokesperson said: "With inflation soaring to 9%, hitting a 40-year high on the back rising energy, fuel and food costs, it is clear the DUP needs to get back into the Executive and work with other parties to support people struggling with the cost of living crisis.
"It is a dereliction of duty that the DUP, aided and abetted by Boris Johnson's government, would block the Executive formation and sit outside government while people struggle to put food on the table and heat their homes.
"We need to have ministers in place to take decisions to allocate the £400 million of funding available and put money into people's pockets, support farmers and businesses and to agree a budget to start to fix our health service."
