Man Aged In His 80s Stabbed At His Home In Millisle
An investigation has been launched after a man, aged in his 80s, was reportedly stabbed in an incident at his home in Co Down.
According to police, the man is being treated in hospital for "stab wounds to to his left hand and head injuries".
An incident reportedly occurred in the Woburn Drive area of Millisle shortly before 18:30 on Wednesday 06 July.
A 54-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Anyone with any information about the incident, or who may have witnessed anything suspicious, is asked to contact police.
'Tory Infighting And Chaos' Holding Executive Hostage – SF
The formation of an Executive and political stability in the north cannot be held hostage by 'Tory infighting and chaos' at Westminster, Sinn Féin First Minister Designate Michelle O'Neill has said.
Speaking after British Secretary of State Brandon Lewis became the latest Minister to resign from the British government, Michelle O'Neill said: "Brandon Lewis abandoned any pretence of acting with the 'rigorous impartiality' required of him under the Good Friday Agreement.
"He has shamefully placated the DUP by giving them political cover in denying the electorate the democratic representation they are entitled to.
"His actions are preventing Ministers from using £435 million to support workers and families struggling with the rising cost of living crisis, agreeing a three-year budget and putting an additional billion pounds towards fixing our health service.
"He has failed victims and survivors by tearing up the Stormont House Agreement agreed by the two governments and political parties to deal with the past.
"He has undermined the Good Friday Agreement and political stability and his actions gave us a daily reminder why those with no mandate or votes here will only ever act in their own political interests, and not ours.
"The political stability of the North cannot be a hostage to the Tory-in fighting, Westminster chaos and continued DUP disruption."
New State-Of-The-Art Lidl Store To Open On Shore Road On 21 July
Lidl Northern Ireland new state-of-the-art concept store on the Shore Road in North Belfast will be officially opened on Thursday 21st July at 8am.
The eagerly-anticipated store opening brings Lidl Northern Ireland back to the prime retail site after nine months of construction work to facilitate the creation of a stunning, larger new supermarket with glass-fronted glazing, landscaping, more car parking and improvements to its access from Shore Road.
The new store represents an investment by Lidl Northern Ireland of £4million into the local community. An extra 13 new local jobs are being added to the existing workforce of 22 to accommodate a much larger retail operation. A further 200 jobs were also created during the development and construction phases which are now almost complete.
Regional Director for Lidl Northern Ireland, Conor Boyle, said: "The opening of our new Shore Road store on Thursday 21 July reflects Lidl Northern Ireland's commitment to North Belfast and to continuing to serve the Shore Road community who have shown extensive support for this highly-anticipated transformation project.
"As Northern Ireland's fastest-growing supermarket, we're delighted to be advance our local and regional growth ambitions, with significant new investment, new employment opportunities and an enhanced shopping experience to be enjoyed by all our customers."
