SF Welcomes New Poll Showing Growing Support For Irish Unity
Sinn Féin has welcomed the publication of a new LucidTalk poll demonstrating growing support for Irish unity.
Commenting on findings North Belfast MP MP John Finucane said: "Yet another poll shows growing support for Irish unity across the island, particularly among young people.
"The reality is that conversation on the constitutional future of our island is to the fore of political discourse like never before.
"Planning and preparation must start now.
"The Irish government should lead those preparations by immediately establishing a Citizens' Assembly on Irish unity to help shape the new Ireland.
"Sinn Féin will begin a people's conversation from October. We want to hear from everybody on their views on the future.
"The onus is on the Irish government to prepare for referendums and reunification without any more delays."

Former Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has called on the Irish government to begin the work of planning for Irish unity. Mr Adams was speaking at a party event in Dublin on Wednesday evening, to mark 25 years since the Good Friday Agreement and the referendums North and South that gave overwhelming public support to the Agreement.

Unusually the following IRA statement was read out by by a former IRA prisoner, and apparently was not signed "P. O'Neill"... "The leadership of Óglaigh na hÉireann has formally ordered an end to the armed campaign. This will take effect from 4pm [16.00 BST] this afternoon. All IRA units have been ordered to dump arms.

As Sinn Féin begin preparations for this year's Ard Fheis, to be held at Castlebar in County Mayo, the party has used the launch of its agenda to call for a border poll on Irish unity. Newry/Armagh MP Conor Murphy has claimed a single island economy would promote prosperity, jobs and investment.
