Woman left 'badly shaken' in car hijacking

A woman has been left badly shaken after her car was hijacked by two men in west Belfast on Sunday.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was returning to her vehicle on the Upper Springfield Road at around 7.45pm when two men, one of whom was brandishing a knife, pulled up in an old style Renault car and threatened her.

They then took the keys of her metallic grey Skoda Fabia reg. no UCZ 1024, and drove off in the direction of Belfast.

The woman subsequently made her way to Woodbourne Police Station where she raised the alarm before being treated for shock.

Police believe the stolen Skoda may subsequently have been used in a robbery that took place at the Saintfield Road Service Station at Lisburn involving two men armed with a bat and a sharp implement thought to be either a knife or a pair of scissors. The robbery was reported at around 8.20pm.

Police in west Belfast are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the hi-jacking or has information about the movements of the Skoda Fabia from 7.45pm onwards.

Similarly, detectives in Lisburn investigating the robbery at the service station would like to hear from anyone who could assist with their investigation.
